The PTE exam, recognized worldwide by educational institutions, governmental bodies, and various organizations, consists of two main types: PTE Academic and UK Government Tests (formerly referred to as PTE General).

PTE Academic is undertaken by individuals aiming for educational purposes and is widely accepted by English-speaking nations such as Australia, the USA, the UK, and New Zealand. It is also a requirement for work and migration visas from the Australian and New Zealand governments. The UK Government Tests comprise four distinct assessments: PTE Academic UKVI, PTE Home A1, PTE Home A2, and PTE Home B1.

This test segment spans 54–67 minutes and encompasses seven diverse question types, making it the lengthiest section of the examination. It evaluates your proficiency in both speaking and writing, focusing on the use of English commonly encountered in academic settings.

This section of the test has a duration of 29–30 minutes and includes five distinct question types. As PTE Academic is designed as an integrated skills test, one of the question types, 'Reading and Writing: Fill in the blanks,' additionally evaluates your writing skills.

This test segment, lasting 30–43 minutes, comprises eight diverse question types. Questions are derived from audio or video clips that start playing automatically. Each audio or video clip is played only once, and you are permitted to take notes during the process.
