Overview

• Griffith University has one of Australia's largest and most highly recognised aviation teaching programs. Over the past 25 years teaching in this field, we have built an international reputation for graduates who are industry ready. Our aviation staff have strong industry connections and some are world leaders in aviation research.
• The Bachelor of Aviation is a two-year, accelerated degree allowing students to progress more quickly into an aviation career or flying training.
• You will be introduced to the sciences underpinning the theory and practice of aviation, including the basic principles associated with each of the different phases of ab initio flying exercises in our virtual reality flight simulators. You will also study courses in areas such as navigation, safety management systems and the human factors. Through the Bachelor of Aviation, you will develop the skills needed for lifelong learning in the evolving aviation environment.
• The Bachelor of Aviation together with self-funded flight training will allow graduates to be ready to work in the aviation industry as a commercial pilot.
• Entry into the program is either via Standard Entry or Professional Entry for those holding a Commercial Pilot Licence (MEIR) or higher. The Trimester 2 intake is only available to students completing a Professional Entry pathway.
• Attendance information
• Standard Entry pathway
• The program is available full-time or part-time. Courses are offered on-campus at the Nathan campus although some courses may be offered in external mode or via the internet (fully online) with no requirements for on-campus attendance. The program includes 3 trimesters and can be taken in an accelerated mode over two years. It should be noted though that this program includes core courses only offered in Trimester 3.
• As a full-time student you will generally attend 15-20 hours of scheduled classes per week throughout the trimester. Classes may be scheduled during the day and evening throughout the week.
• Professional Entry pathway
• The Professional Entry pathway is offered on-campus and online. The on-campus offering is available to International students studying in Australia on a student visa. Students will be able to attend lectures and tutorials, access course materials, participate in learning activities, lodge assessment items, as well as access support services via Learning@Griffith. Access to a reliable computer with internet connection is essential.
• If you are an International student on a student visa, you must ensure that you enrol in a way that will allow you to complete your enrolment within the expected program duration as stated on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).

• The Bachelor of Aviation will prepare you for employment in the aviation industry in a variety of areas such as management, research safety and human factors roles. Our graduates have been successful in gaining a range of flying and management positions with organisations such as Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad, Jetstar, Qantas, Regional Express and Virgin Australia as well as Airservices Australia and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
• Together with the Graduate Diploma of Flight Management, you will be ready for work as a commercial pilot.
• Our graduates have been successful in gaining a range of flying and management positions with organisations such as Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad, Jetstar, Qantas, Regional Express, and Virgin Australia, as well as Airservices Australia and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
• On completion of both programs (B Aviation and GDip Flight Management), you will also be able to apply the skills acquired in your degree to many areas of the aviation industry such as management, research and human resources. You could find employment opportunities in charter work, regional airlines, flight instruction (theory and practical), aerial services (agricultural spraying, aerial surveying and photography), airline and airport management, research, human resources and in government organisations such as CASA.
