Preparing you to teach with confidence

This degree prepares students to teach in early childhood, primary or secondary settings. You will undertake a foundation first year, including a school classroom practical observation. You can then choose to pursue either primary or secondary education at the end of first year.

In line with our belief that education should be for everyone, you'll develop strategies and resources to prepare you to teach learners from diverse academic and personal backgrounds. Throughout your study, you will hone your curriculum planning skills, and build your confidence to design, deliver and evaluate lessons to ensure you graduate as an experienced and capable educator.

During your studies, you will undertake 80 days of supervised professional experience. We have a dedicated placement officer to assist in organising your placement.

Primary

Our primary education curriculum covers areas such as history and geography, the way language develops and works, mathematics, science and technology, health and physical education, and the arts.

You can also choose to specialise in early childhood education, health and physical education, special needs education, English, mathematics or science.

Secondary

You'll learn the knowledge and skills to teach students through years 7 to 12 and can choose to undertake studies in two teaching areas, or one teaching area and the Learning Support major (conditions apply to some teaching area combinations). We offer a large range of secondary teaching areas, including:

*biology
