You will develop the knowledge and skills needed to work in public health roles around the world. You will learn how to address major health issues including chronic disease, sexual health, nutrition, HIV/AIDs, physical activity, drugs and alcohol within many populations such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, youth, seniors and in settings such as workplaces, hospital and schools.
Honours is available through an additional year of study.

Professional recognition
Public health officers and health promotion officers are recognised as professions under the Health Practitioners and Dental Officers (Queensland Health) Award - State 2015.
Students and graduates are eligible for membership of the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA) and the Australian Health Promotion Association (AHPA).
Attendance information
The program is offered in full-time, on-campus mode at the Gold Coast campus.
If you are an International student on a student visa, you must ensure that you enrol in a way that will allow you to complete your enrolment within the expected program duration as stated on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
My career opportunities
As a graduate you will be qualified to work as a public health officer or a health promotion officer tackling our most pressing health issues. You could work on intervention programs or policies in teams at an international level with organisations such as the World Health Organization, the United Nations or UNICEF or with federal, state or local governments or at the community level. You will be prepared for a range of contemporary issues such as mental health, women's and men's health, epidemics and pandemics, alcohol and drugs, and child and adolescent health.
Tuition fees
An International student pays tuition fees.
Students are liable for tuition fees for the courses they are enrolled in as at the census date.
The tuition fee for students who commence their program prior to 2014 is charged according to the approved program fee for the trimester in which the student commenced the program.
