> Become commercially minded with an accounting and finance degree

• If your ambition is to be a fully qualified accountant with a particularly strong understanding of the finance industry’s institutional structures and products, then this is the degree for you.
• You’ll study a wide range of subjects including accounting, corporations law, tax law, derivatives, risk management techniques and credit assessment, and will learn how to manage risks in financial services firms and price a range of financial instruments, such as shares and debentures. You’ll graduate ready to work either as an accountant in the finance industry, or as a financial analyst, providing investment advice based on reviewing the financial statements of potential investees.
• Study a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) at UC and you will:
• evaluate the concepts and theories acquired in accounting and finance
• exercise critical thinking skills when dealing with ambiguous and incomplete information
• identify and obtain relevant information for decision making and providing advice to stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds
• utilise discipline-specific technologies to analyse complex problems in a variety of contexts
• communicate a clear, coherent and independent exposition of knowledge and ideas to a variety of stakeholders, addressing a diverse range of business/commerce problems
• develop the capacity to exercise initiative and professional judgement in an ethically and socially responsible manner
• engage in a range of authentic, Work Integrated Learning opportunities to reflect on and improve professional practice in areas of communication, judgement and cross-cultural teamwork.
