Gain valuable skills in a range of visual mediums, then dive into your art practice with access to our purpose-built studios and workshops.
Develop your art practice in a professional environment. Access specialised facilities including painting and drawing studios, a digital lighting studio, photographic darkrooms, and sculpture and printmaking workshops. You'll also get your own personal studio space from day one of your degree – right through to graduation – where you can hone your skills and collaborate with other artists.
Gain insights into what contemporary art can tell us about the world and our place within it. Discover how the arts contribute to the significant historical, cultural, ecological and ethical issues of our time and gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between art and other visual cultures such as fashion, film and design.
Bachelor of Visual Arts intended learning outcomes
Demonstrate skills and knowledge of the practices, languages, forms, materials, technologies and techniques in the Visual Arts discipline.
Develop, research and evaluate ideas, concepts and processes in visual arts through creative, critical and reflective thinking and practice.
Apply relevant visual arts skills and knowledge to produce and realise artworks, artefacts and forms of creative expression.
Interpret, communicate and present ideas, problems and arguments in visual arts modes suited to a range of audiences.
Work independently and collaboratively in the discipline of Visual Arts in response to project demands.
Recognise and reflect on social, cultural and ethical issues, and apply local and international perspectives to practice in the Visual Arts discipline.
Bachelor of Visual Arts career opportunities

Possible roles include:
Gallery or museum curator
Design exhibitions, manage art collections and take a lead role in supporting community engagement with the arts.
Community arts facilitator
Work with communities to deliver cultural programs, exhibitions and projects.

Apply your knowledge and make your mark analysing, interpreting and evaluating art.

Note: 120 credit points represents full-time study for one year.
Destination Australia – an Australian Government initiative
The Destination Australia scheme supports new international students to study in regional Australia and offers students a high-quality learning experience. For eligible applicants, these scholarships are worth up to A$15 000 per annum for up to four years.
Subject prerequisites
Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.
English language requirement
6.0 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 6.0.
