National Essay Competition 2017


Kathmandu, December 4, 2017: Mr. Pratik Bhandari from The Times International H.S. School has been awarded with the cash prize of Rs.50000 for standing first position in the National Essay Competition 2017 organized by Landmark Education and Macquire University in partnership with Glocal Pvt. Ltd. Similarly, Mr. Ankur Singh Thapa from St. Xavier College and holding the first runner up and Ms. Rhitu Thapa from DAV College with second runner up title received the cash prize of Rs.30000 and Rs.20000 respectively.

Ms. Sweta Dhakal from SOS Hermann Gmeiner, Bharatpur and Mr. Ayush Jha from Chelsea International Academy were also given certificate for being top 5 finalist in National Essay Competition 2017.

The ceremony was held in Hyatt Regency Nepal, Kathmandu.

The essay competition entitled, “Education for Development”, attracted interest and submissions from 128 participants between the students studying in Grade 11, 12 and A-levels across the country.

Among 150 application, the jury panel had shortlisted top 5 amazing essays. The jury panel comprised of Mr. Richard Howard, Director, ILO Nepal; Ms. Roshee Bhusal, KUSOM, Mr. Terence Lee, CEO, Nepal Traveller and Mr. Rajiv Sharma, MD, Job Dynamics.

The top 5 essays were then judged by Macquarie University for the ranking of the winners.

"We were overwhelmed with the number of participants and the quality of ideas that they have demonstrated in their essays. Each essay reflects the sense of realization among high school students regarding the necessity of educated country for development" says, Dr. Sherman Young, VC, Macquarie University, Australia.
