Neuroscience is one of the fastest-growing areas of human physiology today, and it plays an increasingly vital role in guiding educational practices. With UNE's Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience and Education, you will deepen your understanding of education's role in contemporary society, how the brain facilitates learning and thinking, and the importance of neuroscience in modern education.

Why study the Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience and Education with UNE?

There is a growing interest among educators in learning more about neuroscience and how it applies to education.

Designed to meet this need, this flexible course is based on the exceptional popularity of our new Master of Neuroscience and Education and is an excellent option for those who prefer a Graduate Certificate program. Your program of study is designed to be flexible, with 12 credit points of Neuroscience units and 12 credit points of Education units, and you can continue to a Graduate Diploma or master's level course if you wish.

We offer a flexible course dedicated to deepening your understanding of education's role in contemporary society, how the brain facilitates learning and thinking, and the importance of neuroscience in modern education.

You’ll gain a solid background in the core discipline of education and an understanding of how the brain processes learning and thinking, so that you can apply this knowledge in a wide range of learning and teaching settings.

What makes our course different?

Designed by our leading faculty members from Education and Neuroscience, this course provides an authentic grounding in neuroscience, rather than an adaptation. A unique feature of our course is that it integrates neuroscience and education deeply, and it is designed by experts in both fields.

In this flexible course, you will:

-Receive a solid grounding in neuroscience and apply that learning to your chosen specialisation in education (Special and Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology or Educational Leadership)

-Find out how people learn, think, make mistakes, what happens in the brain during those processes, and how research and remediation can take place in multidisciplinary education settings

-Sharpen your skills and knowledge in a variety of contemporary research methods

-Discover how neuroanatomy and cellular function affect human behaviour during an educational experience

-Examine neuroscientific research in a variety of educational contexts to address today's most pressing educational issues

-Use your skills and knowledge straight away, or pursue a higher degree, such as our Graduate Diploma or Master's-level program

-Create your own study program based on your interests and professional goals

Alongside all of this, you will develop critical thinking, research and communication skills.
