You will learn through a problem-based curriculum, active learning in small groups and practical work placements that facilitate the integration of theory and practice. As a speech pathologist, you will be equipped to work in a wide range of health and educational settings. You will develop research literacy and enhance your ability to respond to changes and provide quality services throughout your professional life.
Program accreditation
The Master of Speech Pathology is accredited by Speech Pathology Australia. Upon completion of this Masters program, you will be eligible for professional membership to practice as a fully accredited Speech Pathologist.

Attendance information
The program is offered on-campus and a full-time basis using the in-person mode of delivery every trimester. The program includes a series of professional placements as detailed below. Students will need to be available to attend the on-campus teaching plus professional placements as specified.
The professional placement requirements for the program are:
*Year 1/Trimester 1: 1 full day per week
*Year 1/Trimester 2: 2 full days per week
*Year 2/Trimester 1: 2 full days per week
*Year 2/Trimester 2: 4 full days per week

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Speech Pathology, a student must have:
completed an undergraduate degree (not in speech pathology) with a minimum GPA of 5.0 using a 7-point scale (studies must have been completed within ten years prior to the commencement of the trimester to which a student is applying and whilst there are no prerequisite study areas for admission, desirable areas include: Psychology; Health Science; Public Health; Medical Science; Human Services; Education; Linguistics) and
satisfactory performance in an interview with a Speech Pathology academic staff member.
Admission will not normally be granted for an undergraduate degree that has been completed more than ten years prior to the time of application for admission. If studies were completed more than ten years prior to the time of application, applicants must have:
*completed an undergraduate degree (not in speech pathology)* and
*completed a minimum of 40 credit points (equivalent to Bachelor degree level or above) at a higher education institution within ten years of applying for admission with a GPA of at least 5.0 and
*satisfactory performance in an interview with a Speech Pathology academic staff member.
OR
*completed an undergraduate degree (not in speech pathology)* with a GPA of at least 5.0 and
*completed a minimum of three years full-time equivalent professional experience within the five years prior to the commencement of the trimester to which a student is applying (examples of relevant experience include Health, Education, Psychology, Disability Services, Human Services, Social Work) and can demonstrate the ability to undertake postgraduate study by providing:
*a curriculum vitae and
*a summary of relevant skills applicable to speech pathology (maximum two pages) and
*an employer's reference and
*satisfactory performance in an interview with a Speech Pathology academic staff member.
* Whilst there are no prerequisite study areas for admission, desirable areas include: Psychology; Health Science; Public Health; Medical Science; Human Services; Education; Linguistics.
As the number of applicants may exceed the places available, selection for admission is competitive and will be based upon (1) academic merit and (2) interview.
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
A minimum overall band score of 7.0 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 7.0
OR a minimum score of 580 on TOEFL
OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 92 (no score less than 22)
OR no score less than 4 in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
OR a minimum overall score of 185 (no score less than 176) on C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
OR a minimum overall score of 65 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 65.
Tuition fees
An International student pays tuition fees.
Students are liable for tuition fees for the courses they are enrolled in as at the census date.
The tuition fee for students who commence their program prior to 2014 is charged according to the approved program fee for the trimester in which the student commenced the program.
