The Master of Management (Tourism and Event Management) is designed in consultation with our network of industry and professional partners. Entry-Requirements

International students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

  • Destination marketing manager: leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of marketing campaigns to drive bookings of experiences and events; managing paid and organic digital marketing channels; collaborating with designers to produce creative materials; effectively managing all CRM campaigns to promote packages to new and existing tourism partners.
  • Event director: using strong organisational and project management skills to deliver successful, cost-effective events; managing staff and suppliers; booking venues, facilities and equipment; marketing and promotion; analysis and reporting on event performance.
  • Event sponsorship manager: coordinating sponsorship solicitation and fundraising efforts; meeting stakeholder needs; managing renewals and negotiations; overseeing communication with sponsors, aligning business and market needs; overseeing sponsorship strategies.
  • Events and exhibitions manager: project managing and coordinating collection changeovers and exhibitions at arts organisations; managing contractors and budgets; collaborating with designers and liaising with artists.
  • Festival organiser: logistical planning, organisation and execution of events; using creative ideas to promote festivals; ensuring budgetary considerations are fulfilled.
  • Professional conference coordinator: liaising with contractors and suppliers; organising equipment and programmes; assisting on-site throughout the event; using strong organisational and managerial skills to ensure smooth execution conferences.
  • Strategic partnerships manager: strengthening existing relationships; developing new partnerships; using strategic thinking to identify collaboration opportunities that benefit both parties.
  • Tourism and hospitality business owner: overall management of strategy and operations relating to event planning, sales and marketing, lodging, and customer service; planning annual budgets and monitoring return on investment.
  • Tourism development manager: conceptualising and implementing strategic plans to help drive tourism; engaging with community stakeholders to align development goals.
  • Tourism experience manager: representing a particular community or destination develop enriching, meaningful experiences for visitors.
  • Tourism policy planner: developing policy and research papers, major industry reports, submissions and responses; engaging with stakeholders such as industry and the general public and maintaining these networks; monitoring and reporting; developing government or stakeholder relations strategies.
