Visa Process

Step-by-Step Guide for visa processing

Australia

Step 1- Letter of Offer

Once your application for a course is successful, you will receive a Letter of Offer from your chosen educational institute. It is your job to read the Letter of Offer carefully before accepting it. The Letter of Offer will include the details of your course, conditions of enrollment, and the fees to be paid in case the offer is accepted.

Step 2- Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

This is a document issued by your education provider which verifies your enrollment in a specific course. You will receive the CoE after you accept your Letter of Offer and pay your deposit. You must include a copy of your CoE in your student visa application so that the Australian Government has proof that you are registered in your declared course.

Step 3- English Proficiency

Since the Australian education system operates in English, you may need to provide a certificate of results from an approved English language test. This serves as proof to the Australian Government that you have attained the minimum English proficiency level required to study your intended course in English.

Step 4: Genuine Student Requirement

The Government has substituted the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) stipulation for student visas with a Genuine Student (GS) requirement. This alteration comes into effect for student visa applications submitted on or after March 23, 2024.

In the online student visa application form, applicants will be prompted to address several key questions to satisfy the Genuine Student (GS) criteria. Firstly, applicants will be asked to provide comprehensive details regarding their current circumstances, including their ties to family, community, employment, and economic situation. Following this, applicants will need to articulate their motivations for choosing to study their intended course in Australia with their selected educational provider. This explanation should encompass their understanding of the course requirements as well as the practical aspects of studying and living in Australia. Additionally, applicants will be required to explain how completing the course will personally benefit them. Lastly, applicants will have the opportunity to include any other relevant information they believe will support their application.

Step 5- Proof of sufficient funds

In order to meet the necessary requirements for a student visa, you need to be able to provide proof of sufficient funds, i.e., enough money to support yourself throughout your stay. You can either do this by providing bank statements, evidence of grants or scholarships, or by supplying proof of your parent’s or partner’s annual income. This will prove that you have enough money to cover all your costs and expenses throughout your course, such as travel, course fees, and rent.

Step 6- Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC)

If you are an international student in Australia, OSHC is necessary for the entire duration of your stay. Your student visa is bound to be refused if you do not provide proof of this insurance. OSHC is important as it helps you pay for your medical or hospital care while studying in Australia. It also helps you pay for most prescription medicines and provides you with ambulance cover in case of emergencies.

Step 7- Health

The Australian Government mandates that all international students must be in good health prior to entering the country. Consequently, you may be required to undergo a health examination to fulfill the student visa health requirement.

Step 8- Character

Additionally, there are certain character requirements that must be met if you wish to study in Australia. In your application, you’ll be required to answer some basic questions about your character and past conduct. In certain cases, you may also need to provide a police background check.
