Overview

> This Honours course consists of a fourth year of study for students who have completed an undergraduate degree in Arts, Design, Media and Communications, Contemporary Arts, Counselling, Criminology, Social Science, Youth Work and cognate disciplines.

> On the Mount Lawley campus, study is available in the fields of Arts, Creative Arts, Design, Media & Communications, Contemporary Arts and cognate disciplines. On the Bunbury campus, study in the major fields of Literature and Writing is available. On the Joondalup campus, study in the major fields of Counselling, Criminology, Social Science, Youth Work and cognate disciplines is available. Availability of project areas is subject to availability of supervision.

Course Entry

> English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • Year 12 English ATAR/English Literature ATAR grade C or better or equivalent;
  • Special Tertiary Admissions Test;*
  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Successfully completed 1.0 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher in the UK, Ireland, USA, NZ or Canada;
  • University Preparation Course;
  • Indigenous University Orientation Course;*
  • Aboriginal University Readiness Assessment;*
  • AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent)

> Apply advanced discipline knowledge, research methods and technical skills to plan and execute research activities and/or creative outputs.

> Review, analyse, consolidate and synthesise principles and concepts in the relevant discipline with intellectual independence to generate new understanding.

> Communicate a persuasive explanation of knowledge in the relevant discipline including a discussion of research results appropriate to the audience in a variety of academic/professional contexts.

> Demonstrate autonomy, accountability and ethical awareness in a research and/or creative project as they apply in the relevant discipline.
