Kathmandu, April 16, 2025 — If you’re planning to attend a U.S. visa interview soon, there’s an important update you need to know.
Starting April 28, 2025, the U.S. Embassy in Nepal is introducing a new rule: the barcode number on your DS-160 visa application form must match the one you used when booking your appointment online. If it doesn’t match, you won’t be allowed to interview.
This means applicants will need to double-check their DS-160 confirmation page (it’s the one that starts with “AA”) and make sure the barcode is the same as the one on their appointment confirmation.
If your numbers don’t match, don’t panic—but you’ll need to reschedule your appointment. You can do that by visiting: www.ustraveldocs.com/np/en.
There’s a special note for student visa applicants too. Make sure your SEVIS ID number on the DS-160 matches the one you used for booking. To help with the transition, the April Drop Day has been moved to April 30, 2025.
To avoid any last-minute stress, the Embassy is encouraging everyone to double-check their application details well in advance. If you’re confused or need help, you can reach out to: support-nepal@usvisascheduling.com.
Better to be safe than sorry—make sure your info matches so your visa journey goes smoothly!
